Pongal, illustrious broadly as Tamil Nadu festival, is celebrated each year as a harvest festival, welcomed the day as a beginning of Tamil Calendar and worshiped the nature and Sun God for their contribution in applauding cropping. Sweet Pongal Recipe
Ingredients:2 liters milk
10 almonds
11/2 cups freshly cropped rice
1/4 cup moong dal
15 cashew nuts
11/2 cup jaggery grated
30 kishmis
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder
1/4 teaspoon saffron crushed
1 teaspoon cardamom powder
2 tablespoons ghee
Method of Cooking:
- Chop up almonds and cashew nuts
- Fresh the kishmis
- Pour milk in the clay pot and put it on fire.
- When the milk begins boiling put in rice and dal, after cleaning and washing
- As rice and dal are cooked to smoothness, add jaggery and ghee
- Let it cook on average fire for some time and then put in almond and cashew nut bits, saffron, nutmeg and cardamom powder
- Finally add kishmis
