Simhat Torah or Simchat Torah (Tishri 23) means "rejoicing in the Torah" and represents the culmination of Sukkot and Shemini Atzeret. It is a joyous celebration which concludes the annual cycle of the reading of the Torah, the first five books of the Bible. Simchat Torah is a celebration marking the conclusion of the annual cycle of public Torah readings, and the beginning of a new cycle. It is one of the happiest days in the Jewish calendar.
