Mardi Gras, Fasching, Carnivale, or whatever you call it is not a big festival in the USA. Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday), or Shrove Tuesday (in the UK), is the last day of the period of carnival. It can be as early as February 3rd and as late as March 9th.
