Makar Sankranti is one of the most auspicious day for the Hindus,Makar Sankranti is perhaps the only Indian festival whose date always falls on the same day every year i.e. the 14th of January. This festival, unlike other Hindu festivals, is not dependent on the position of the moon, but on position of the sun.It is celebrated with pomp in southern parts of the country as Pongal, and in Punjab is celebrated as Lohri & Maghi.
