As Teacher Appreciation Week 2014 approaches, we are called to recognize the tireless efforts of not only teachers, but also the entire school staff. That is why the event should actually be named Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week.
After all, wealth of staff members contributes to the education of our children. Coaches, Volunteers, Nurses, Guidance Counselors, Food Service and Administrative staff all play a part in the daily operation of a school. Their work is sometimes overshadowed by Teachers, who spend the bulk of the educating time with the students. But these staff members are educators in their own right, and they should be recognized as well.In current years, that contribution has been rewarded by budget cuts, compensation reductions, layoffs and privatization that draw resources away from the public education system.
There is abundance of Teacher Appreciation Week gift ideas: fruit baskets, flower bouquets and coffee mugs, etc. But most teachers would probably rather have more pay day cash, job security and adequate education budget.
Teacher Week 2014
Teacher Appreciation Week occurs May 5th through 9th this year and there are a variety of ways that you can show teachers that they are appreciated. This might be as simple as writing a note thanking him or her for all that they do. But, it could also include a special treat as well. This year, consider a gift to show those valued teachers just how thankful you are to have them.
