Ram Navami is a holy festival of Hindu celebrated with huge enthusiasm and passion all over the country. It has celebrated on the ninth day of the chaitra month in shukla paksha. This festival has usually observed to celebrate the birth of maryada purusottama Ram, believed to be an appearance of lord Vishnu, one of the prime deities of Hindu trio.
It has believed that, lord Rama is not only spirit or god but also the ideal form for a human being. There is no very particular Ram Navami ritual to do Pooja. People visit temples and pay attention to stories of Ram janam and various other legends from Ramayana. All devotees sing also bhajans praising the activities of lord Rama, his faithful brother Lakshman, his devoted wife Sita and Rama's greatest devotee Hanuman.
Ram Navami Festival Rituals
On the day of Ram Navami festivals, some people prefer to fast on this day. The house has swept up clean and images of lord Rama, Lakshman, Sita and Hanuman are put on a dais in preparation for the puja. The flowers and incense are set aside before the deities. There are two thaalis kept organized in the puja spot. One comprises the prasad and the other the necessary items for the puja like roli, aipun, rice, water, flowers, a bell and a conch. After illumination the diyas and incense sticks, devotees spray holy water, roli, and aipun and rice on the deities.
After completed the Pooja, an aarti has done and the holy water from the Pooja is sprayed over the devotees as a mark of blessing and auspiciousness from God. After then, the youngest female member of the family applies teeka to all the male members of the family. At the end of puja, the holy prasad has distributed among all the people who have assembled for worship. Bhajans are also most important part of Ram Navami festival rituals. The devotees make the whole atmosphere religious by singing the bhajans.
