Pongal Festivals
Pongal is the opening festival which comes in beginning of every New Year. Each day of this passionate festival has a special importance. However, it has celebrated more magnificently in the villages, while the people of the city mostly celebrate on the second day only. On, the first day, Bhogi Pongal has celebrated; the old clothes and materials have thrown away and fired, marking the beginning of a new life.
The second day of Pongal as Thai Pongal has celebrated by boiling fresh milk early in the morning and allowing it to boil over the vessel. The third day, Mattu Pongal has celebrated and it meant to offer thanks to the cows and buffaloes , as they have used to plough the lands. On the last day, Kaanum Pongal has celebrated and people usually go out to picnic.
