National Grandparents Day has celebrated in United States on first Sunday after Labor Day. It has also celebrated in United Kingdom on first Sunday of the month of October. The first time the celebration was held in 1973. West Virginia's Governor Arch Moore had announced an annual Grandparents Day for the state, at the urging of Marian McQuade.
It is a day to purpose to honor grandparents, to give grandparents to express and show their love for grandchildren. They help their grandchildren become the strength. Marian McQuade had organized supporters and began contacting governors, senators and congressmen of all fifty states at the time when senator was Randolph. She had advocated each state to proclaim their Grandparents Day. She had received Grandparents Day declaration from forty-three states within three years. In February, 1977, Senator Randolph, with the presence of the many other senators, introduced a Joint Resolution to the Senate requesting the President to issue annually a designating the first Sunday of the September after Labor Day of every year as National Grandparents Day.
