Naag Panchami

According to hindu myth, the snake god is is forever seen as an ornament around the neck of Shiv. So the festival also has legendary importance.

Naag panchami is one of the most auspicious days of the whole year. People feed sweets and milk to the snake god and the day is celebrated with folk dances and songs, especially in the countryside.

You'll see snake love on the streets displaying their pets, which are worshipped with offerings of milk, parched pulse and coins. As element of the customs of the festival, women sketch figures of snakes on the walls of their houses using a combination of black powder, cow dung and milk. Then offerings of milk, water, rice and other snake favorite food.

Naag Panchami Celebration

It is one of the essential festival of Hindu religion. Naag panchami is celebrated all over the country with full of devotion. This festival is called guga naumi in Punjab. A snake prepared of dough is taken around the village in a basket and an offering of flour and butter is made from each house. The 'snake' is then buried. In West Bengal, Assam and Orissa, the snake god worshipped on Naga Panchami is the goddess Manasa.
