Mostly countries observe the special event of Mother's Day on the second Sunday in the month of May. The particular day was confirmed as the official day for Mother's Day celebrations by US President Woodrow Wilson by signing a Joint Resolution on May 8, 1914. Presently US Mothers Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in several countries including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Turkey and India.

In USA Mothers Day is a countrywide holiday and is celebrated with a lot of passion and jollity. It is considered as the next large day follows Christmas and Valentines Day. Restaurants are full to their maximum capacity as children don't want their mothers to bake on their special day. At home children say love for their mother by treating their moms with breakfast in the bed or making a yummy lunch. Tradition of gifting flowers and gifts is also rampant. More usually gifted flowers are carnations are these are the national flower of Mothers Day. People purchase red or pink carnations for the mothers who are living and place white carnations on the grave of the mothers who are dead. Children also present skits, plays and song in respect of their mother. Some also make cards and gifts at home to show their thanks for their mother.
