Diwali Decorations

Diwali is a traditional Hindu celebration that honors Lakshmi, Goddess of beauty, fortune and prosperity, with fireworks, the sharing of sweets and the opportunity to decorate the home with bright colors and lights. Many people see the spirit of Diwali as a time to express their best creativity and receive divine blessings from the kind-hearted goddess.

Deepawali decorations start from a month before Diwali. People renovate their houses and clean them thoroughly for the arrival of diwali. Furniture is been moved to create some more open space. Exterior and interior walls are painted or whitewashed. They invite the goddess by making Rangoli at homes, offices and schools.

Rangoli signifies purity and divinity. Its colors fill the lives of the people with vibrant colors of happiness .Rangoli paintings are used for diwali decor. People decorate their houses with plenty of beautiful and fascinating red roses as red is the favorite color of Goddess.

A special tray known as "pooja-thali" which is a must during worshipping is decorated with beadwork and is filled with rice, flowers, sandalwood, fresh fruits, sweets and candles. Paper lanterns are hanged with strings at entrances to signify the festivals of light .Diyas are illuminated as the most important part of deepawali decoration. Hangings adorning the idols of lakshmi and Ganesha are the popular decorative item. People try their best to give their homes an elegant and attractive look as all of them are attached to this festival emotionally and traditionally.
